October Knitting

Yes.. There has been knitting! But I don't have that much to show for it in the way of finished objects.

Last weekend I worked on my fair isle mittens and had to undo all that I had done... About 2 inches... Sheesh!!  But I have it all ready to go now and I will pick those up soon.

I am knitting on the vest at lunch and I am happy to report that I have 14 rows left!!

I started Holiday Stockings last night.  I got a stash  of Lion Wool on sale at Michael's and I am zooming through the first one.  The pattern is the mix and match sock out of Knit Christmas Stockings.

  What fun!!!  You can design your own stocking... I am having fun with a shorter project for a change.

I think I need some FO's to happen to feel like I am producing again.

Duplicate Stitch / Swiss Darning

I got out my Norway Sweater (Fisherman Knits).   I had some time today.  It was in a drawer due to the fact that a moth (larva) ate a little hole in it.  (yes.. I have cedar balls on order!!)  It was also in the drawer because I had put it on a plastic needle when I needed to use the size four circulars for my Deep V Argyle Sweater and I hadn't taken the time to put it back on the needles. 

I want to get moving on the sweater, so I got it out and fixed the hole using the duplicate stitch aka Swiss Darning.  HERE It worked great! I have it back on the needles and I am ready to go.

I can't believe I waited so  long to learn the duplicate stitch.  I couldn't resist trying it on the flowered portion at the bottom of the sweater!  I LOVE it!

It is funny what will keep a WIP in a drawer for a while.   (It took about 20 minutes to fix and get it moving).  I have rekindled my love for Norway and I am focused.

The Skinny Sock and Argyle Vest Progress

You know how some have their skinny jeans? Well this sock is the equivalent of skinny Jeans. It is very snug and not really stretchy. All along I have been  wondering how it would do on my not so slender calf. Overall I love the sock and the pattern, it is just not the "feel good about my calf sock."

I am about 3 inches into the second one and I think I will finish it... And I know some day I will be strutting around in my skinny sock. But for now it is snug as a bug in a rug.

 I have the Argyle Vest out and I have worked on it two days in a row!!! . And I have gotten some Fall knitting mojo flowing. I am definitely in a rhythm. I have set the arm pit steeks and I am decreasing.

 It really is starting to be count down to the CUTTING.. Uh sort of like the election... Ha ha.. But if I don't get my belly to the gym, this vest will be "the damn skinny vest.."   I am crossing my fingers that it will block out to the right size. 

Don't you just love the feminine shaping? ha Ha.. as I edit this post I am laughing because it looks like a pear!  Alas that is because it is still confined by steeks and the needle isn't that long and there are fewer and fewer stitches on the needle.  The steeks will set it free and then it will look more stylish.  I was referring to the nice shape of the waist on this vest.

It is really masterfully designed. Eunny Jang really knocked herself on this classic vest. Here I rant on instead of knitting. Prolonging the inevitable STEEKing. So I am still on the 45 minute lunch hour knitting diet. I am doing okay with that...I am making sure to make some dents in the four WIP's and that always feels like progress!!! a little knitting drought and a naughty moth

Hello everyone!

I have had a bit of a knitting drought.   I think it is because I am so tired at the end of the day. All of WIP projects are Fair Isle or lace.  I need to get some cloths and more simple knits so I can just veg and enjoy.   A little knitting in the round... hats and what not....  I have a full weekend off from work  coming up. 

I hope this weekend is all about needles and books!!  And maybe if the stars align, a visit from my friend in Portland.  ( I hope I hope I hope).

I have been knitting for 35 minutes on my lunch hour and making sock progress!!   *****(edited to remove a shameful picture of the sock taken with my cell phone).

I am getting the itch for Christmas Knitting and I can't wait to catch up with the Bookmark Group or the Holiday Mystery KAL.

I am trying to contemplate my next pair of socks.. so many to choose from and two lovely yarns to use!

The story of the Naughty Moth.

MOTHS are evil.  I have never hated moths so much.... as this past weekend.  I took three pair of my lovely socks and washed them.. three pair of them!!!!..... gave them a nice bath and put them in the breezy sun to dry.  I came out to get them and my Jitterbug socks HAD a ginormous DIME sized hole on the cuff and a good pea sized nibble out of them!!!!   It was really horrific!!   I have hardly been able to think about it.   The same sock was attacked more than once.  It seemed that the moth preferred Jitterbug over Art Yarns.  And he (it) steered clear of the blended socks.    To make matters entirely worse... HE (it) was sitting on my  patio shade about 3 feet from the socks.... with that guilty look that only a moth that ate your sock can have. Oh bad moth.  No I didn't kill the moth... but I am offended all the same.   @#*!

Well that is my news for Thursday.

Surfin the Net!

This week I didn't leave Roseville but I traveled by blog world to a New England Fall and it was a really nice treat.  Check it out over at grumperina's blog. HERE

So that inspired me to put some fall decorations up... mini pumpkins and fall colors.  Mom got me some red plaid place mats so the place is lively.  I am posting from work with the thought... I should have taken pictures.   My grandson liked the decor and festivities in the house.   It is very cute to hear him call the pumpkins,  "pumpkins " this year (2.5 years old) rather that "tatoes" that he called them last year (1.5 years old).   

I have been watching over at the Blue Bog.  She is  making costumes for her boys for Halloween.   Each day I check in on the progress.  I just love to watch them come together. Here

I went to Courtney's blog to check it out.  I love the pumpkins and all her projects.  I need to go back and comment for sure.  Why don't you take a peek. Here As she mentioned.... we got some rain.  LOVE IT!!!!!

And even though summer has passed by with out me making these treats, I still keep going back to craftoholic's site to look at those lemon cookies. MMM... and then those Bears.... I must have a few of those bears.... check it out.  Here

Recently I have been bitten (RE-bitten) by the scrap booking bug so I have pages that I am working on. I am "getting" scrap booking now.   I used to have a manic need to get pictures out of the boxes and on to a page.  Now I take a special photo and chronicle it and enjoy it.  It has really  added to my joy of scrap booking.   Might have to share a page or two.

In the mean time I  am near the toe of my Pomatomas Sock and hope to have one done this weekend.
