Happy November 2011. That just sounds outrageous to me!
It has been so utterly gorgeous this past week with all the sunshine and fall leaves. I just am utterly tickled each and ever day on my ride to work. I have snapped a shot with my camera and Ipad here and there. I will have to look to see if anything is worthy to share.
The whole blanket due date was a flop. I am about half way done with the chart on the third row of letters. I like the pattern. I think I hate the yarn. I am not sure why. It is going to be very special and very soft when it is done, but I am so addicted to that good stitch definition with purewool.... well I believe that probably sums up my dissappointment. Here is the progress.
I will finish it.... I mean I can't have my little darling princess go "blanketless" Okay... take my word on it she is not destitute.... I don't think I ever posted her crocheted blanket as it was a "semi-surprise." I like how it turned out. I am tempted to make another ...IN WOOL. :)
Here she is only three days old in her hat and blanket from Nana. (Time flies, she is 4 weeks now)
Oh and I believe I was all excited to get a new (to me) sewing machine as I was going to make quilt for her... uh.. yeah.... It didn't happen.
Here is Fulmar, by the time I finish with this sweater you will be so sick to DEATH of seeing it, I believe it will be the sigh and hurrah heard 'round the world.
And 'tis the season to have babies. My little grand daughter has a cousin coming so I have a little knitting to do. And a sweet friend and co-worker is having a little boy soon. So I worked on this Little Owlie Sleep Sack. I love this thing. My only fear.....BIG babies.... I love this pattern so much I regret not knowing about it to make one for my Grand Daughter.
You can't tell from the picture that much but the cables form cute little owls. There is a matching hat but I just made a plain hat. Here is the pattern.
I don't blog as much. I do miss updating and hearing the comments, then popping over to check out other blogs. I don't spend a lot of time at my kitchen table on my laptop any more. I think it is funny that something I enjoy doing is sort of not part of my routine right now. I am afraid I don't have the answer for that. I also set up a place in my room to blog and knit and have not utilized it. I think I am holding out for an Airbook Pro. I know .. don't hold my breath.
Maybe posting photos on Ravely and in the forums has taken the place of my knitting journal? So I feel this is a bit of repetition.
I have been venturing into sourdough bread baking. It is fun and I have a decent starter going on, and usually on Saturdays or Sundays I bake a huge loaf. I use the recipe from Here.
I have been also making crock pot yogurt. So seeing homemade yogurt straining in the fridge is not an uncommon site. I just have to find out the fat content since I am using whole milk...it is too good to be diet.
The smell is absolutely fresh and so very very delicious. Even when the whole milk is cooking, I just love it. I have been flavoring it with sugar in the raw, cinnamon, and vanilla. I did a little research. I took bits and pieces from a few online recipes, so I don't feel completely fair posting a link, a bit because I don't remember. I now know what works best for me after tweaking.
So while I am in while mood to just find something cute and cast on something for my grand daughter, I am going to work on a few of the other little projects I have going on.
Spinning... I have not spun in a few months. It just breaks my heart, well should say bums me out. I will be making time for it soon when I am caught up on all the baby knitting, and well the holidays ARE upon us. Make no mistake.
I am having small Thanksgiving at my house of 6-7 adults and a baby. I went and bought all the fixings today. Mom is bringing the stuffing. We will stick to the basics: turkey, potatoes and gravy, stuffing, carrots, yams, cranberry sauce, rolls, apple and pumpkin pie.
Have a great November everyone.
